Description

This vintage top-break, .38 caliber revolver was manufactured by Iver Johnson’s Arms & Cycle Works in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, a name synonymous with late 19th and early 20th-century American firearms innovation. Featuring a 5-inch barrel, a 5-shot cylinder, and the iconic top-break action for easy extraction, this piece displays multiple patent dates on the butt of the grip from 1886 to 1896. The frame and barrel are both marked with the serial number “219”. The finish shows a significant patina consistent with its age, with some pitting visible on the cylinder and barrel. The wooden grips appear to be later replacements and show handling wear. Mechanically, the action and trigger function, however, additional adjustments/repairs are needed to pawl. Bore displays some freckling and the rifling is rounded, but still prominent. Also included is a period correct brown leather holster that is supple, but exhibits scuffing and wear to the finish.
