Description

WWII British Lee-Enfield No.5 Mk 1 .303 BD2283 (C)
British Lee-Enfield No. 5 MK1 “Jungle Carbine,” a sought-after piece of World War II-era bolt-action history. Identifying marks on the wrist strap include “M/47C,” indicating production by BSA Shirley, and “1945,” dating it to the final year of the war. The receiver displays the “BD2283” serial number and a “PMP” stamp, while the stock is marked “FB” and the serial number BD2283 on the underside of the forend. Constructed with a shortened barrel, iconic cone-shaped flash hider, and a rubber buttpad to manage the increased recoil, this carbine represents the British effort to modernize the Enfield for Pacific theater combat. The wood stock shows typical field wear with various compressions and darkening from age. The metal surfaces have been parkerized and are in good condition. The canvas sling is included and shows mild fraying and oxidation on the metal hardware. Bore shows some light freckling and the rifling is rounded. Mechanically, the action and trigger are tight and appear to function properly. Please see photos for overall condition. S/N: BD2283 C&R Eligible.
