Firearms and Ammo Auction
Lot 1299:
Description
This Spanish FR8 “Special Purpose Rifle,” manufactured in 1956, is a fascinating Cold War era conversion of the Mauser Model 1943 short rifle. Produced at the Fabrica de Armas in La Coruna, these bolt-action carbines were developed as a stopgap measure during the transition to the CETME automatic rifle. These rifles were modified to mimic the sight picture and feel of the CETME automatic rifle for training and civil guard use. It features the distinctive underslung tube (resembling a gas tube), a flash hider, and a rotating aperture rear sight. The receiver is marked “FR8-13799,” which matches the bolt handle. The metal displays a parkerized-style finish, and the wood stock retains a deep finish. The firearm shows moderate wear consistent with military use, including scattered scuffs and compressions on the wood and some thinning of the finish on the high edges of the receiver and barrel assembly. The bore is clean and rifling is strong. Mechanically, the action and trigger are tight and appear to function properly. Please see photos for overall condition. S/N:13799. C&R Eligible.
