Danish Krag-Jørgensen M1889 Rifle
This is a fine example of a Danish Krag-Jørgensen Model 1889 bolt-action rifle, manufactured at the Royal Danish Arsenal. The receiver is clearly marked “HÆRENS TØJHUS. 1915. M. 89.”, identifying it as a 1915 production for the Danish Army. It features the distinctive Krag side-loading magazine and characteristic barrel shroud. The rifle displays several proof marks, including the crowned “16” and “B” marks on the barrel and receiver. The serial number 97203 is visible on the receiver and barrel, though the bolt (numbered 258) and other components appear non-matching, which is common for service rifles of this era. The walnut stock shows a deep, natural patina with various handling marks and indentations consistent with military use. The metal surfaces exhibit a mix of original bluing and thinning to a grey-brown patina, with light surface oxidation on the magazine door.
