Lot 1268:
Description
This is a fine example of a late-model Italian Carcano M91/41 infantry rifle, manufactured in 1942 at the Terni arsenal. Produced during the height of WWII—indicated by the crown and “FAT” (Fabbrica d’Armi Terni) markings on the barrel shank—this bolt-action rifle features the distinctive fixed box magazine designed for the 6.5×52mm Mannlicher-Carcano en-bloc clip. The presence of the “ROCCA” marking on the cocking piece and the serial number “BB 5871” matched on both the barrel and the buttstock speaks to the rifle’s preserved military history. Interestingly, the “MADE IN ITALY” stamp on the stock suggests this was part of the post-war surplus exported to the civilian market. This example is notably complete with its original full-length cleaning rod, though the en-bloc clip is not present. The bore is clean with strong rifling, and the hardware remains functionally sound with a smooth bolt action. The stock is in near-pristine condition with minimal handling marks or compression dents, and the blued finish shows only light, honest wear consistent with careful storage. H 4.25″, W 46″, D 3.25″ Please see photos for overall condition. S/N BB 5871 C&R Eligible.
