Description

A classic British Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk I, bolt-action rifle, manufactured in 1945 and chambered in British .303 caliber. The Enfield No. 4 Mk I served as the primary, standard-issue infantry weapon for British and Commonwealth forces during World War II and was designed for wartime mass production. On this particular rifle, the markings indicate it underwent a “Factory Thorough Repair” (FTR) at the Fazakerley (F) Royal ordnance factory, with a 1949 date stamp on the receiver. This rifle also has been “sporterized,” with the original military forestock and handguards cut down, a common modification by hunters in the mid-20th century. The original serial number “14147A” is faintly visible on the wrist collar. The metal shows remnants of the original factory finish, with visible thinning and honest wear consistent with age and field use. The wood stock displays various dings, scratches, and a dark patina from use. Bore is good and the rifling is prominent. Mechanically, the action and trigger are tight and appear to function properly. Please see photos for overall condition. S/N: T38088. C&R Eligible.
