Hollywood Blvd Cinema Memorabilia
Lot 1538:
Description
This pair features two distinct representations of Buddhist iconography, perfect for a collector of Eastern spiritual decor. The taller figure is a hand-carved wooden Seated Buddha, likely of Southeast Asian influence, featuring remnant polychrome paint in earthy red and gold tones with a classic ushnisha and meditative expression. The shorter figure is a “Laughing Buddha” (Hotei/Budai) made of matte-finished black ceramic or resin, representing happiness and abundance with his signature stout belly and joyful countenance. Both pieces show authentic character; the wooden Buddha displays significant surface wear, paint loss, and natural wood splitting consistent with age, while the black figure shows minor surface scuffs and a small white mark on the back of the head. Wooden Buddha: H 13″, W 9″, D 5″. Ceramic Buddha: H 10″, W 10″, D 7″. Please use photos to judge condition and bid accordingly. Please note: Buyer is responsible for removal.
