Description
This lot features a striking four-piece architectural salvage set, likely part of a grand interior doorway or theater set design reflecting a mid-century Chinoiserie style. The collection includes two tall vertical planks, a beautifully carved scrolling arch header, and a decorative faux-brass wooden grate. The wood surfaces are finished in a deeply distressed cinnabar red with a heavy “alligator” crackle texture that evokes a sense of aged antiquity, while the carved elements and grate feature metallic gold-tone accents. The decorative header displays traditional fretwork motifs, and the grate is meticulously detailed with floral medallions and a geometric lattice pattern. Generally, the set shows heavy cosmetic wear consistent with age and previous installation, including significant paint flaking, surface abrasions, and some loss to the finish on the structural planks; the decorative grate and arch remain largely intact with some minor chipping to the carved edges. H 98″, W 39″, D 1.5″ Two side planks and a carved arch and faux brass wooden grate. The door frame planks are 5.5 inches wide inch thick and are approximately 98 inches long. The decorative piece that goes across the doorway is 39 inches wide by 6 inches tall by 1 inch thick and the painted faux metal grate is 32.5 wide by 13.5 tall by 1.5 thick.
