Hollywood Blvd Cinema Memorabilia
Lot 1520:
Description
This is a magnificent example of a 19th-century Indian Haveli door, likely originating from the Rajasthan or Gujarat regions. Crafted from heavy, solid teak or tropical hardwood, it features a traditional double-shutter design set within a thick, architectural frame. The central “patti” or vertical spine is elaborately carved with geometric and floral motifs, while the door panels are reinforced with hand-forged iron straps and oversized ring pulls. A charming interior “balcony” railing or balustrade is visible at the base of the frame, a classic feature of traditional courtyard entrances. The piece retains significant traces of its original polychrome pigment in earthy greens and ochres, though it shows heavy, authentic weathering, wood shrinkage, oxidation to the iron components, and minor loss to the decorative carvings consistent with its age and outdoor exposure. H 77.5″, W 30.5″, D 6.5″. Please use photos to judge condition and bid accordingly. Please note: Buyer is responsible for removal. From the Hollywood Blvd. Cinemas Collection.
