Hollywood Blvd Cinema Memorabilia
Lot 1267:
Description
This monumental 19th or 20th century copper cauldron is a quintessential piece of early American or European farmstead history. While the size suggests use as an apple butter kettle, a seasoned eye will appreciate the industrial-grade construction: the heavy iron swing handles are secured with massive, hand-set copper rivets, and the rolled rim provides the structural rigidity necessary for such a high-capacity piece. The presence of subtle irregularities in the rim and the manually peened rivets are strong indicators of period craftsmanship. The condition commensurates with a century of hard labor, featuring a rich, dark “fire-scale” patina on the exterior, scattered dents, surface pitting, and significant oxidation. Despite the rugged aesthetic, the copper remains remarkably thick and the iron hardware is securely attached. H 24″, W 36″, D 36″. Please use photos to judge condition and bid accordingly. Please note: Buyer is responsible for removal. From the Hollywood Blvd. Cinemas Collection.
