Description
Collection features five vintage wooden architectural corbels, likely salvaged from a mid-20th-century “movie palace” or a high-end Hollywood Regency interior. The design leans heavily into the Exotic Revival style—specifically Chinoiserie—consistent with the aesthetic found in iconic venues like Grauman’s Chinese Theatre or the West Coast Theatre in Long Beach. The corbels feature a bold coral-red and gold-gilt palette, accented by recessed black panels, reflecting the 1920s–1940s obsession with “Orientalist” grandeur. The construction is solid wood with a textured, layered finish. Given the varied sizing (two large and three small), these were likely part of a graduated architectural run along a balcony or structural beam. They remain in solid salvage condition, showing expected surface wear, minor paint losses to the red pigment, and light chips to the gold-leaf edges that lend them an authentic vintage character.
