Description

This RARE silk 46-star American flag reflects the inclusion of Oklahoma as the 46th state and was the official national ensign for just four years, from 1908 to 1912. Printed on silk , this flag represents a fascinating era of American expansion under Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft. The stars are arranged in a specific staggered 8-7-8-8-7-8 row configuration, which was a common variant before the star pattern was standardized by executive order in 1912. Small-scale silk flags like this were often produced for parades, political rallies, or as souvenirs. The flag has some vertical fraying along the edges, and scattered dark stains and spotting.
