Description
Exceptional lot of four prints signed by Commander Harold “Hal” Buell (1920-2016)—one of the true legends of the Pacific War. Buell flew the Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bomber with distinction in nearly every major carrier engagement, from the Coral Sea to Guadalcanal, and was awarded the Silver Star for his actions. The four included prints are exquisite technical illustrations showing various views of the SBD Dauntless, and are highly collectible for their rarity as original (or early-run limited edition) pieces personally signed and annotated by the veteran pilot. The prints are in very good overall condition, exhibiting sharp detail and strong contrast, though some minor curling and handling creases are visible on the edges of the paper, consistent with having been mailed and stored without professional framing.
