Description
A n original World War II Japanese late spigot launcher, used by the Imperial Japanese Navy. The launcher was used with either the Type 38 or Type 99 rifles. It fired hollow charge grenades such as the Type 91, Type 3 H.E., Model 3, Mod 1 Naval Grenade, and several types of smoke and incendiary grenades. It consists of a ribbed exterior barrel attached to an adapter. It had a maximum effective range of 55 to 245 yards. It features a blued finish. The item is in very good overall condition for a military artifact of this age, retaining much of its dark finish with expected surface wear, small scratches, and slight loss of finish consistent with field use and age. The knurled locking ring is intact and operable. There are no nomenclature or manufacture markings, which is common for this piece. Please see photos for overall condition. Part of the John Bannister Collection. L 6.75″, W 01.75″
