Old West & Native American Auction
Lot 1374a:
Description
Signed and Numbered Limited Edition Lithograph by the acclaimed Western and Americana artist John M. Cornwell. The print, likely titled “Closed,” depicts a weary cowboy, or perhaps a trucker, resting his head on his hand at a diner counter under a neon “CLOSED” sign, a quiet moment expertly captured with a muted color palette and superb detail typical of Cornwell’s style. The print is handsomely presented in a solid wood frame with a green and tan double mat. It is clearly signed in pencil by the artist on the lower right and is numbered 229/300 on the lower left, indicating a relatively small and collectible edition size. The condition appears to be excellent; the print itself is clean and crisp, and the framing, matting, and glass are all intact, though the wood frame shows minor superficial wear consistent with age. This print is a fine example of late 20th-century Western genre art. H 26″, W 29.5″ , D 1”.
