Description

Winchester Model 1873 lever-action rifle with a 38-40 caliber barrel and 15 shot tubular magazine. Famously known as “The Gun That Won the West,” this rifle is a cornerstone of American firearms history. Winchester produced 720,610 of these rifles. This particular rifle displays the markings “Model 1873” on the upper tang and the serial number “4354” on the lower tang. The two-piece Walnut stock shows average wear and nicks from use and storage. The rear butt plate trapdoor latch opens/closes smoothly. The barrel measures 24 3/8 – inches and has a front fixed pinch sight and a fixed rear elevation sight. The overall gun is 43 ½ inches in length. The bore is clean, and the rifling is good. The metal exhibits much of its original factory finish with light oxidation. The action moves smoothly and is tight. From Donley’s Wild West Town Museum.
