Old West & Native American Auction
Lot 1450:
Description
This set features two custom made, antique knives, with characteristics of the late 19th and early 20th century designs. The first, Bowie style knife has an 8”, clip point blade and a 4.5”, dark, possibly horn with bone inlay, handle. The brass guard and pommel are consistent with 19th and early 20th century American Bowie knifes. The blade is inscribed with the makers mark “PLEPE” with an arrow. The second knife has a 3.87” blade with a 4.75” handle made from a deer hoof. The hoof is capped with a sterling silver cap. The pommel is made of steel. The blade is inscribed with the markers mark, “M & B Co” with crossed swords. The knife sheath is made from leather and is capped with metal tips with a silver tone finish. Both knives are in solid condition, showing different levels of oxidation and wear use. Please see photos for overall condition and markings. From Donley’s Wild West Town Museum.
