Old West & Native American Auction
Lot 1275:
Description
This is a quintessential piece of American Arts and Crafts design, likely crafted from quarter-sawn white oak in the early 20th century. Its clean, rectilinear lines, exposed joinery, and robust construction are hallmarks of the Mission style, popularized by makers like Gustav Stickley. Designed originally as a lamp or plant stand, it features a square top and a smaller lower shelf, connected by heavy square stiles and rails. The rich, dark fuming on the oak highlights the distinctive grain. The piece appears structurally sound, showing a desirable, age-appropriate patina with minor scratches, dings, and finish loss consistent with a century of use, particularly on the edges and top surfaces, all of which contribute to its antique character. H 28″, W 14″, D 14″ NOTE: Pickup/transport required. Contacts available post auction.
