Old West & Native American Auction
Lot 1396:
Description
A remarkable specimen of an American Bison, featuring a beautiful natural bone patina and impressive, dark, intact horn sheaths. The skull has been well-cleaned and preserved, making for a striking piece of natural history, Western décor, or scientific display. The two-part structure of the skull—the bone and the keratinous horn sheaths—is clearly visible, adding a great deal of visual appeal. Condition is excellent for a natural specimen; the bone is clean, fully intact with no major breaks or chipping, and all upper and lower molars are present. There is natural discoloration and some minor surface wear consistent with age and preparation. The horn sheaths are firmly attached and in very good shape with a nice, deep brown to black coloring. H 9″, W 27″, D 23″. From the Western display in Donley’s Wild West Town.
