Pima (Akimel O’odham) basket from the 1940s
Pima woven basket circa 1940s. This small rounded basket exemplifies the artistry of Pima (Akimel O’odham) weaving from the mid-20th century. Crafted from natural fibers using a coil technique, it features a distinctive geometric pattern in contrasting dark and light tones the tight weave and subtle design showcased the skill and tradition of Pima basket makers. Good condition with no breaks in weave. Dimensions: 3.25” tall x 4.5” diameter at waist. Rim diameter 3.25”, base diameter: 3.25”. See photos.
