Description

Artifacts from a collection of six prehistoric lithic projectile points, commonly referred to as arrowheads or spear points, are presented here. These are likely examples of Archaic to Woodland period styles based on their general morphology, which includes notched and stemmed bases. The materials appear to be various forms of chert and flint, displaying a range of colors from light tan/pinkish to deep brown and nearly black, indicating different geological sources. Several points bear catalog markings in black ink, which are common in private collections and may denote discovery locations or collection dates. The points exhibit expected patina and wear consistent with being genuine prehistoric tools, though some show minor modern chipping to the edges that might have occurred post-excavation. The flaking technique appears expertly done, showcasing bifacial reduction. The largest point is approximately in length, and the smallest is around in length.
