Description
A modern crafted traditional Sioux bustle. This piece of regalia constructed with feathers, leather, and fabric elements, is part of the traditional pow wow dance costume and worn on the rear of the wearer’s waist. The bustle features a layered arrangement of feathers attached to a hide backing. The top section showcases A dense arrangement of smallish brown gray feathers, creating a voluminous effect. Two upright elements, feature braided material with strings of bells surmounted with yellow horsehair. Attached to the backing is a dark pattern fabric shorts or leggings. The fabric displays a repeating pattern of flowers on a green background. The exterior of the bustle has feathers and ribbons all down the piece of fabric extending downward. The overall craftsmanship suggests a careful arrangement and attachment of the feathers to create a visually striking and symmetrical piece. Good condition. Dimensions: 57” tall x 23” wide x 9” deep.
