Seldom seen 1952 Patek Phillippe 1485 stainless steel manual winding waterproof timepiece. Patek Philippe Archives confirm production of this watch with steel indexes and radium paints in 1952 and its sale in April1953. Winds and runs; very good to good overall condition with some age and wear related cosmetic imperfections such as light discoloration and minor surface scuffs on the dial approximately 35mm x 27mm. Recently resurfaced winds and work however would most likely benefit from a tune up. The 1485 was exclusively made in stainless steel. Created with a focus on water resistance, the1485’s two-part case, made by Taubert, utilizes an original system composed of three sliding sides that lock the case together. This innovative design included an inner compartment with gaskets that were compressed against the metal sliders on the outer case. Elegant square shaped dial is currently featured on unique sterling silver aftermarket retro bracelet. This elegant timepiece was only offered with a silver dial, and is a completely monochromatic timepiece that broke from Patek’s design language and dared to attempt something new and unusual.
