Description

This is a handsome pair of Victorian-era cast iron scroll brackets, likely designed for use as shelf supports, porch detailing, or general decorative corbels. The openwork design features bold, asymmetric scrolling volutes and acanthus-like ornamentation, reflecting a classical influence popular in the late 19th century. The heavy cast iron construction suggests a piece of durable, quality hardware, and the repetitive spiral motifs add a wonderful sense of rhythm. The pair has an aged, rust-colored patina consistent with outdoor use or long-term storage, showing scattered surface oxidation, pitting, and general wear typical of antique ironwork. The reverse side is flat and unadorned, and both front and back feature mounting holes for secure attachment. Both brackets are complete with no apparent breaks or structural damage, only the expected cosmetic wear from age. H 18″, W 6.5″, D 1″. See photos.
