Description
Stevens “Pocket Rifle” with detachable wire stock. Single shot. Chambered in 22LR. “J Stevens & Co Chicopee” marked on barrel. Also referred to as “Bicycle Rifles” these were specifically marketed as a self-defense option in the late 19th century. Able to fit in the frame compartments of bicycles of the day, thus the name. Barrel is 15” long to breech. Rifling is fair. Breech looks a bit rough from use. Hairline cracks on either side of breech in receiver. Nickel finish and blued barrel look great, with minor surface rust spots on barrel. Trigger and hammer function properly. A great period curiosity! C&R Eligible S/N: 4794.
