This large hand painted sign was originally mounted to the side of a building in Elroy, Wisconsin. It advertised Edward Dunzey Edison Phonographs & Records. Dunzey (b 1878 d 1950) owned and operated a music store in Elroy for many years. It burned down in the early 1930’s. It is hand painted on tin with a wood backing and frame and depicts a couple in their living room listening to their Victrola. This in itself is odd because he is advertising Edison and the phonograph in the painting is clearly a Victor Victrola. It is in overall VG condition with the expected scuffs and scratches but no peeling paint. It was originally screwed to a wall but now has a cable for hanging. This piece came from the Jeff Young collection. It should be noted that small reproductions of this sign sell on eBay but this is the original. Measures 72.5″ tall, 49.25″ wide.
