Description
This is one of the rarest WW2 era carbine variations – the Un-Quality M1. A portion of Quality Hardware’s contract was sub-contracted to Union Switch & Signal, where receivers were produced and given the “Unfortunate” name ‘Un-Quality’ turning off most GI’s and leading to many guns being destroyed. These firearms are only found from serials 4,432,XXX to 4,532,XXX (this one is 4,434,879). Correct Q-RMC marked stock handguard. Crossed cannon cartouche is still faintly visible. Early high wood. No bayonet lug and proper Type1 flip rear sight. Front barrel band (type 2) is correctly marked ‘Q’. Front Type 1 sight marked ‘J-Q’. Barrel is Winchester (W) made. A relatively small quantity (were made) from Winchester. Only about 35,000 of this variation were produced, with a much smaller portion made with Winchester barrels. UQ marked magazine. Comes with a correct WW2 #2 cotton sling, Oiler IQ.
