56″ bike made by Ames Manufacturing in Massachusetts and sold by Read and Sons in Boston. Original brass badge on the frame just below the seat. It is a version of the British Royal Mail made under license to avoid tariffs. This was the first American bike with a ball bearing head. Spade grips for steering. The seat needs new leather and new rubber for tires and pedals or just display as is! Original paint and pinstriping on the metal. A very unique piece of history!
