This metal figure was manufactured by the Miller Dubrul & Peters Co. of Cincinnati in 1875. It is an extremely rare figure and an example of same was featured in the 1953 Pendergast and Ware book “Cigar Store Figures in American Folk Art”.
There is a lot of damage to this item, but due to its rarity it is still VERY valuable.
Condition as follows; The tomahawk is not authentic there is probably no original paint remaining. Both arms have probably been broken and bands have been placed around the biceps. Both legs have been broken with old repair work done. The head feathers are not believed to be authentic. Also, there are several casting cracks here and there. All in all this is still a great piece and worthy of total restoration. It is currently mounted on steel stand, old but not original to the Indian.
Height 72″ to top of arm, add 6 1/2″ for metal stand
21 1/2″ x 25″ at base of stand
