A nice selection of Civil War uniform buttons of all shapes, sizes and condition, fourteen in all in riker mount 8″x12″ x1″. In order from top left to bottom right: 1) Brass Union eagle, “I” Diameter .62″. No marks on back, no shank. Dug condition, dented dome. No rim. 2) Brass Union eagle, “I” Diameter .81” Domed. Makers marks on back obscured. Bent shank. Dug condition. No rim. 3) Brass Cadet, A&MC. Diameter .87” Domed. SCOVILLE MFG CO WATERBURY. Shank complete, dug condition. Rimmed. 4) Brass Union eagle, “I” Diameter .81” Domed. Makers marks on back obscured. Bent shank. Crushed front and back. Dug condition. No rim.
5) Brass Union eagle. Diameter .56”. Domed. Makers marks on back obscured. Missing shank. Crushed front and back. Dug condition. Rimmed. 6) Brass Flat button. Diameter .63”. Makers marks on back IPFRI. GILT. Shank complete, dug condition. No rim.
7) Brass Domed button, Diameter .98” Crushed flat. Dug condition. Portion of front lost. No rim.
8) Brass CSA General Service button. Two piece w/border. Diameter .89” Lined letters “C. S. A.” on plain field. Reverse marked SUPERIOR QUALITY. A clean, bright and desirable button, which is why it was central to this display. 9) Brass US Navy button. Two piece w/border. Diameter .86”. Eagle with wings outstretched clutching anchor. 13 stars above on a lined background. Back marked SCOVILLE MFG CO Waterbury. Rimmed.
10) Brass Union eagle. Diameter .56”. Domed. Makers marks on back obscured. Bent shank. Dug condition. Rimmed. 11) Brass. Iron domed button. Two piece with no border. Diameter .53”. Checkered circle in center of 4 curved borders surrounding. Rust encased back.
12) Brass domed 2 piece Engineer button with border. Diameter .77” back marked SCOVILLE CO Waterbury. Straight looped post. Possibly dug condition. 13) Brass Union eagle, “A” Diameter .78″. No marks on back, Straight looped shank. Dug condition, No rim.
14) Brass Navy domed button. Diameter .57” eagle with anchor online background with stars running on edge of border. Shank’s missing. Dug condition. A great collection of buttons, with the nicest being the non-dug CSA button in the middle. See pictures.
