Description
This historical group 1) Mourning framed etching of General Logan in 22″ x 25″ glass and wood frame. In etching itself is 13.25″ x 17″. It is dated 1888 and is titled “The Soldier’s Friend” and marked “Photo from Scott, Chicago”, Copyright 1888 By R.S. Peale.” and “Engd By J.L. Phillips, N.Y.” 2) Carte de Visite (CDV) of General Logan in 4.5″ x 5.5″ card stock frame. The CDV is marked with Washington D.C. maker John Goldin & Co. Has inked name “Maj. Genl Logan. 3) Book titled “In Memory John Alexander Logan-A Senator from Illinois. Eulogies by Senators & Representatives” (220 pages hard bound printed 1887) 4) Marble bible with front engraved “Presented to Mrs. J.A. Logan Cuard (guard) of Honor By S. Bondra 1890″. Size is 3″ x 4″ x 2”. It is made on one piece of solid marble. This grouping may have come from the estate of Mrs. Logan. her full name was Mary Simmerson Cunningham Logan (1838-1923). The is a touching grouping and tribute to the famous Civil War General and Illinois icon of the 19th Century.
