Description
The belt & buckle set with bayonet includes 53mm x 86 mm buckle which looks to be plate 507 from Duncan & Campbell book attached to a supple late war belt with brass pronged end. It is flexible condition with the normal wear and age and flaking of outer surface. The 21″ bayonet is an Austrian made for export with Austrian M1841 Augustin Laukart .69 cal. musket. It is the same as picture B98A in Reilly’s book on socket bayonets. Some expert opinion states there is only 1 known to be example aside from this one. The M1859 two rivet leather scabbard is in very servable with some leather flaking to surface and has one bend crease but is still display wearable with half the rear stitched seams broken. The brass scabbard tip is present and has nice patina. This is a sincere and correct late Civil war belt and very scare bayonet rig. You might even be tempted to put it on a mannequin or torso uniform display. Its that nice.
