Description
This forage cap stands a short 4″ and looks more like a kepi. The dark blue wool body show the the stitches from the machine resewn leather sweatband. The top has a very faded red wool 6th Corps patch and infantry bugle badge. The black leather visor is flat and slightly curves up it’s brim, Visor has some flex to it and has light crazing on mostly the top surface. The chinstrap has light crazing and center brass buckle with patina. The thick neck Eagle buttons are mismatched. The sweatband is machine stitched on top and crudely hand stitched on band around edges and is starting to break is some places. The wool shows no mothing or staining at all. Brown cotton lining has some wear and use with residue from old paper tag in interior center. The sweatband is shows much age and distress. We welcome comments because it is our opinion this might be a post CW cap and has been embellished to look more Civil War (or not).
