Civil War Auction
Lot 256a:
Description
This kepi has no insignia or side button anymore. It is a smaller size and the interior is unmarked. The blue wool body shows age, wear, stains and some minor mothing. There are old threads where the buttons were. The visor is flat with even crazing on both sides. The sweatband is missing and it allows viewing the cork band and the internal manufacturing sewing. It lining is brown cotton material and shows wearing with sweat and hair oil stains. It is an old kepi for sure and may be a post CW period hat from later in 19th Century.
