Relics of the American West: 1850-1920
Lot 2199:
Description
This is a classic example of a mid-19th-century military sidearm holster, consistent with those issued to cavalry units during the American Civil War. The piece is constructed from a deep, dark brown leather with a prominent top flap and brass finial closure. Its elongated profile suggests it was designed for a standard large-frame percussion revolver, such as a Colt or Remington Army model. The leather remains remarkably supple for its age, showcasing quality period craftsmanship in the heavy-duty stitching and reinforced belt loop. The item presents in excellent vintage condition with minor surface crazing and light wear consistent with historical field use, though it remains structurally sound with no significant rot or loss. H 13.5″, W 7″, D 1″. Please see photos for condition.
