Relics of the American West: 1850-1920
Lot 2183:
Description
These stunning Native American style tall moccasin boots showcase the exquisite artistry of traditional floral beadwork. Crafted from soft, brain-tanned buckskin, the boots feature vibrant, multi-colored glass seed beads meticulously applied in a classic rose motif. The design includes a striking contrast between the white-petaled roses and a more subdued, metallic-toned rose, likely dating from the mid-to-late 20th century. The wrap-around construction and hide ties are characteristic of Plains or Plateau craftsmanship. Overall, the pieces show significant signs of authentic use; the soles are heavily worn with several large holes and darkening from contact with the ground, and there is some light fraying to the interior fabric lining used to support the beadwork. The beadwork itself remains remarkably intact and vibrant. H 13.25″, W 3.25″, D 8″. Please see photos for condition.
