Description

This is a premier maritime collection featuring a large 43″ diameter wooden ship’s steering wheel with eight spokes and turned handles extending to a 57″ total width. The provenance is anchored by a wooden tackle block bearing a cast-metal “Anvil Brand” medallion from the Western Block Company of Lockport, New York. This comprehensive lot includes a 34″ modern 4×4 timber mounting post with a heavy steel threaded axle for upright display, a wooden caulking mallet, and a secondary turned handle. The rigging is substantial, consisting of 3/4″ diameter natural fiber rope in three distinct sections: a primary 50′ length attached to the tackle, a 7′ length with looped ends, and a 52″ section featuring an integrated metal eye loop hardware piece. The wooden elements exhibit a beautiful, warm patina with minor surface scuffs and age-appropriate drying cracks, while the metal components show light, stable oxidation. H 57″, W 57″, D 12″ Note: Pickup/Transport required. Contacts available post auction.
