Coin Op & Advertising - Spring Classic Part 1 - Day 3
Lot 2189:
Description
This expansive acrylic on canvas by celebrated Algonquin, Illinois artist Ed Wolowiec captures the high-octane intensity of vintage auto racing. Formerly the proprietor of the famed Port Edwards restaurant, Wolowiec is best known for his maritime subjects, making this dynamic depiction of two race cars a notable departure from his typical catalog. Originally gifted in the early 1980s to car collectors Hank and Bob Harper, the work utilizes bold, expressive brushwork and a vibrant palette to emphasize the speed and mechanical power of the vehicles. The acrylic medium provides a crisp, modern texture that remains well-preserved. Faint artist signature in lower right corner of the canvas. The canvas is taut with excellent color retention and only minor surface dust; the period wooden frame shows light edge wear and scuffing consistent with its age. H 32″, W 56″, D 2″. Please see photos for condition. NOTE: Pickup/transport required. Contacts available post auction.
