Description
This is a classic piece of mid-century Americana, a vintage neon sign that likely served as a simple yet effective indicator for a small business or storefront. These signs were ubiquitous from the 1940s through the 1970s and have become iconic collectibles. This example features a painted metal backing and glass neon tubes. The sign shows its age with significant wear, including paint loss, scratches, and surface rust on the metal backing. The working neon tubes for the word “ON” are a bright red, while the tubes for “OFF” are a light, unlit blue. The sign itself measures 40 inches wide by 12 inches tall and deep. The crated piece is 47 inches wide by 19 inches tall by 14 inches deep.
