Description

This superb collection represents a comprehensive look into both Imperial Japanese military/civil service awards and commemorative decorations, meticulously curated and presented. At the pinnacle sits the Order of the Sacred Treasure, 6th Class, an Imperial decoration featuring the high-grade star of white/silver rays with a striking central red jewel design, suspended from its official purple-striped white/yellow ribbon. This is complemented by the classic Order of the Rising Sun, 8th Class, easily identifiable by its white enamel rays emanating from the red sun disc, a fundamental award of the Imperial system, and secured by the iconic white and red striped ribbon. The collection also includes two critical historical service pieces: the Showa Enthronement Commemorative Medal, marking Emperor Hirohito’s accession, and the Japanese China Incident Service Medal, a bronze-tone award crucial for understanding Japan’s involvement in the 1937–1945 conflicts, complete with its original clasp and distinctive ribbon. Rounding out the lot are three distinct Fireman’s Merit Badges, with two in non issued boxes, offering insight into Japanese civil service honors. The overall condition is remarkably fine, with the Imperial awards showing minimal tarnish or enamel loss; the ribbons are all vibrant and appear to be well-preserved without significant fading or fraying. The presentation boxes, crucial for value, are generally in very good condition with minor scuffing to the exterior and clean velvet linings, showing only light signs of shelf wear appropriate for their age. Largest case is 4.25”x2.5” x .75”. Smallest case is 1.75” x2.25”x1”. Please see photos.
