Description

A fascinating collection of six boxed World War II-era Japanese medals and pins, reflecting both military service and civilian home front contributions. This lot includes the China Incident Medal, the Order of the Sacred Treasure Seventh Class (boxed), the Order of the Rising Sun Eighth Class (boxed), a Silver Boxed Pin likely for Civilian Home front Contribution to the War Effort, a Japanese Patriotic Women’s Association Boxed Medal, and a Japanese Women’s Patriotic Association Pin (boxed). The style and presentation, particularly the deep purple velvet and silk linings in the three cases, are characteristic of imperial-era Japanese awards. Condition across the lot appears to be good to very good; the ribbons show some expected color fading and wear from age, and the bronze medal on the far left shows patination. All medals are housed in their original presentation boxes, which exhibit minor scuffs and wear consistent with age and storage. Largest case is 4.25”x2.5” x .75”. Smallest case is 1.75” x2.25”x.5”.
