The John Bannister Collection - D-Day and Militaria
Lot 1046:
Description
A fantastic set for the aviation history enthusiast, specifically those focused on the U.S. Army Air Forces’ WWII strategic bombing campaign. The lot includes three pencil-style art prints on cardstock, two depicting the iconic Boeing B-29 Superfortress and one showing the legendary Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress. The two B-29 prints are particularly noteworthy for their association with the Enola Gay crew, featuring a prominent signature from pilot Paul W. Tibbets, plus signatures from two other crew members on one of the prints. The prints are executed in a detailed, blueprint-like style, capturing the distinct silhouettes and armament of these heavy bombers. The visible materials are thick white paper or cardstock with pencil or ink renderings and blue/black ink signatures. The cardstock appears to be in excellent overall condition, with sharp corners and no visible creases, fading, or damage to the print or the critical, hand-written annotations and signatures. Part of the John Bannister Collection. H 17″, W 11″ (Each print). See photos.
