Description
A rare piece of Japanese military history, a framed original propaganda poster issued by the Rikugun-sho (???), or Imperial Japanese Army Ministry. The central figure is a determined-looking Japanese soldier, fully kitted out with a massive pack and rifle, trampling a torn American flag. The main vertical text reads “Uchite shikaraba yamamu” (???????), an old military phrase essentially meaning “Strike until we stop/finish” or “We will not stop until we have defeated them.” The text on the left in black and red translates to the “38th Army Anniversary” (????? ?????), These posters were released on February 23, 1943, by the Ministry of the Army as a slogan to boost fighting spirit. The poster is mounted in a modern, simple black frame behind acrylic. The poster is in good condition for its age and intended use, showing folding creases, edge wear, and slight tears.
