The John Bannister Collection - D-Day and Militaria
Lot 1028a:
Description
Here is a battlefield relic German G/K43 rifle receiver, trigger group and barrel, recovered from the historic Ardennes region. Mounted on a rustic wood plank, the piece features a descriptive plaque stating it was unearthed in 2002, approximately 20 miles north of Bastogne, firmly linking it to the Battle of the Bulge. The rifle exhibits heavy oxidation and significant metal loss consistent with being buried for over half a century. A tree root had grown through the receiver/bolt area. The wooden stock is almost entirely decomposed, with only the lower portion of the forward stock remaining. This is a great opportunity to obtain a battlefield recovered relic from the Ardennes Forest. Please see photos for overall condition. Part of the John Bannister Collection. L 33″, W 7.5″, D 3.5″.
