Hard to come by framed lithograph of the famed Andersonville prison. Originally drawn by Thomas O’Dea, a veteran of the 16th Maine Infantry, and an Andersonville prisoner. Published in New York by Henry Seibert & Bro., featuring an aerial view of the camp with locations numbered and keyed at the bottom. Bordering the main drawing are vignettes of various aspects of camp life. The caption at the bottom reads in part: ‘Andersonville Prison, Camp Sumter GA, as it appeared August 1, 1864, when it contained 35,000 prisoners of a war. Drawn from memory of Thomas O’Dea’. Approximately 47″t x 1″d x 67″l and in Good overall condition with minor cosmetic blemishes indicative of age and wear including minor liquid damage along the bottom edge; some creases. Appears to have been handsomely re framed with the original glass at some point, glass is original and shows bubbles which indicate its age.
