Lot 2237:
Description
This distinctive primitive folk art pairing includes a full-length antique leather sleigh bell strap alongside a vibrant hand-carved wooden totem baton. The 87-inch body strap features twenty-four cast brass crotal bells with decorative incised lines secured to heavy, dark brown leather terminating in a forged iron roller buckle. Accompanying the strap is a solid 12-inch wooden dowel meticulously relief-carved in a Pacific Northwest Indigenous totem style, featuring stacked figures of an owl, thunderbird, and stylized faces accented with crisp yellow, red, black, and green paint, capped with brass end bands. The leather strap exhibits expected age wear, surface cracking, and mild fraying, while the bells display an unpolished tarnish; the wooden baton shows minor scuffs, light paint flecking, and an aged brass patina. H 1.5″, W 1.75″, D 87″. Please see photos for condition.
