Relics of the American West: 1850-1920
Lot 2187:
Description
This collection features a vintage hand-beaded leather belt alongside two woven textile sashes, showcasing traditional Indigenous-inspired geometric patterns. The belt, likely early to mid-20th century, is constructed with seed beads on a leather substrate and features classic “Thunderbird” or avian motifs in red, yellow, and blue; it shows significant age-related wear including structural separation of the beaded layer from the leather backing and notable bead loss, particularly near the buckle end. The first sash is a vibrant red and green finger-woven style piece in excellent, stable condition, while the second, larger sash features a more muted earth-tone palette with horizontal striping; it remains structurally sound despite some light, localized fading. H 0.25″, W 3″, D 100″. Please see photos for condition.
