Description
This collection represents a significant snapshot of Indigenous lithic technology, anchored by a 2 7/8″ Kirk type serrated projectile point. Attributed to the Early Archaic period (circa 6,000 B.C.), this primary point is expertly knapped from a weathered chert, displaying characteristic deep “toothy” serrations and a stemmed base. The lot includes a Riker mount housing a specialized toolkit: five distinctive lithic drill points (perforators) with expanding bases, two larger projectile points, one smaller point, a seven-segment rattlesnake rattle, and a curved faunal bone. The Kirk point exhibits expected surface patination and minor tip wear consistent with its significant age. The smaller lithics remain remarkably sharp with mostly intact tips, while the organic rattle and bone appear stable but are fragile.
