Relics of the American West: 1850-1920
Lot 2149:
Description
This is an authentic U.S. military McKeever pattern cartridge pouch, an iconic Indian Wars-era design featuring a black leather exterior embossed with the classic “U.S.” oval graphic, a brass closure finial, and a dual-loop canvas interior designed to hold cartridges. Manufactured to fit the larger .50-70 Government caliber (predating the more common .45-70 variants), this historic piece comes complete with two vintage REM-UMC .50-70 centerfire metallic cartridges featuring lead bullets and brass casings dating from the post-1912 commercial production era. The leather shows appropriate age-related wear, fine surface crazing, and minor scuffing, while the interior canvas webbing remains intact with light staining, and the brass hardware displays a natural, undisturbed patina. H 4.25″, W 7″, D 1.75″. Please see photos for condition.
