Description
This framed historical piece showcases an original personal account check from the Commercial National Bank of Chicago, dated December 23, 1909 (just in time for Christmas). It is check number 720, made out to “Currency” for the amount of $100.00 and bears the authentic signature of Robert Todd Lincoln, the only child of Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln to survive into adulthood. Printed by the Western Bank Note Co. of Chicago, the check features intricate security engraving and period-correct punch cancellations. Mounted below the check is a scenic postcard of Hildene, Robert Todd Lincoln’s summer estate in Vermont. The signature is bold and well-preserved in brown ink. The check exhibits standard bank cancellation perforations and light age-toning, while the wooden frame and green fabric matting appear in excellent vintage condition with only minor shelf wear to the edges. H 7.5″, W 10.25″, D 1″. Please see photos for condition.
